What Have You Done for Your Marriage Today?
With Rod Stewart’s rendition of, “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?” playing in the background, after a wonderful hospitality, the Couples Connection began the November gathering inviting couples to share how God showed up in their vows on that day.
Dr. Allen Hunt’s second secret for marriage is the secret of sacrament. In Chapter 2 of his book, “The 21 Undeniable Secrets of Marriage”, he invited us to explore the question, “What kind of marriage do you want to build? What are your core priorities?” The tables built “marital houses” out of popsicle sticks and glue. (We had some civil engineers in the group and fancy designs!)
We were reminded that we need God in our marriages. We are called to allow God and our spouse to have influence in our lives. As we discovered with the “trust walk” game, it is not always easy to be blindfolded and give up control to our spouse, let alone God! That is why trust and emotional security are basic building blocks for healthy intimate relationships.
We invite all married couples to read your vows to one another and ask the question, “What do you pray for in your marriage today?”
We hope that you will consider the influence of Couples Connection and join us on the 2nd Friday of each month. Come celebrate each other and the Christmas season with us on Friday, December 11th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. For more information, contact email@example.com.
