Join Us As We Welcome Fr. Angelo to the Holy Spirit Community!
Rev. Angelo De Leon David was born November 22, 1979, the second of three children of Eduardo Mañosca David and Zenaida De Leon David, in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
He attended elementary and high school at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, Metro Manila, and De La Salle University – College of St. Benilde in Manila where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a major in export management in 2000.
He took an associate course in philosophy at Christ the King Mission Seminary in Quezon City, 2003-04 and, in 2004-05 enrolled in the formation program in human development and psycho-spiritual integration as a postulant with the Society of the Divine Word in Tagaytay, Batangas.
He served in parish ministries in the Philippines as a choir member and extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. He served his pastoral year as a seminarian at St. John Vianney Parish, San Jose, 2008-09, and in diaconate ministry at St. Lucy Parish, Campbell, 2010-2011.
His secular work has included property sales consultant at MegaWorld Corporation in Makati City, Philippines, January — March 2001, and project assistant at Asian Terminals Incorporated in Manila, July – October 2001.
He explained, “In 2003, I joined the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) and was
in formation for two years. I was able to discern that I am called to be a diocesan priest with a love for missions. Saying ‘yes’ to the call of the priesthood is the best decision I made in my life because it gave me the reason and the purpose of my existence. As St. Paul said, ‘…we are many parts, but one body…’ (1Cor 12:12), being a priest is that one ‘part’ I want to become where I believe I can contribute
in building the ‘body’ of the Catholic Church according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is also in this vocation where I can give back to God all the blessings He has given me and share these blessings with others.”
He was ordained as a Transitional Deacon on June 2010 at St. Maria Gorretti in San Jose by the Most Reverend Patrick J. McGrath. In May 2011, he finished his seminary formation and was ordained to the priesthood on June 2011 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Basilica in San Jose by the Most Reverend Patrick J. McGrath for the service of the Diocese of San Jose. Queen of Apostles church was his first assignment.
In response to a question regarding significant events in his life which have shaped his faith and vocation, he answered, “Prayer…prayer…and prayer.” We are so very glad to have Fr. Angelo with us. Please join us as we welcome him to Holy Spirit!
