Turkeys and Tarps Drive – November 12th & 13th and 19th & 20th
“For it is in giving that we receive.”- St. Francis of Assisi
We have an opportunity to do a small thing by sharing a turkey dinner with those in need. Each year Sacred Heart Community Service feeds a turkey dinner to over 10,000 people with the help of $20 donations received from Holy Spirit parishioners. Last year we raised over $10,000 and in the past 9 years the parish has generously raised over $100,000 to support those in need at Sacred Heart.
Last year, as a part of our extended outreach from the women’s shelter, we started the Tarp drive to support our neighbors in need who do not have adequate or available shelter from the cold and rain the winter months bring. We are excited to bring this back this year and are looking forward to exceeding the donations that led to 800 tarps being purchased for this ministry!
Parishioners Stephanie Dockendorf and Joyce Nguyen are organizing this collection, which allows us to share our love with minimal time and effort. We are looking for several people to help accept donations for turkey and tarps after Mass on the weekends of November 12th & 13th and 19th & 20th. Specifically, we are looking for two people for each Mass time during these two weekends. If you are available to share your time in this meaningful way, please contact Katie Metzger at 408-997-5115 or email@example.com.
