Turkeys and Tarps Drive – November 14th & 15th and 21st & 22nd
“For it is in giving that we receive.” – St. Francis of Assisi
Each Thanksgiving, Sacred Heart feeds 3,300 families, or 10,000 individuals, with turkeys and meal boxes. We are doing a special fundraising drive to purchase turkeys for the families served at Sacred Heart. This is the ninth year of the drive. In the last eight years, thanks to your generosity, we have raised a total of more than $90,000! Last year we raised over $14,300!
This year during the annual Turkey Drive, Holy Spirit is also focusing on the homeless people living on the streets. There are over 7,000 unsheltered homeless people in Santa Clara County. We need to reach out to them now! Tarps will be distributed at Sacred Heart and several other locations. These tarps will help the homeless during the forecasted El Nino Storms. The tarps will be used as makeshift shelters, some will wrap themselves in the tarps to stay a little drier, and to protect their meager possessions during the day.
Suggested donations are $20 for one turkey, $20 for one tarp, or $40 for both. Donations will be collected after all Masses the weekends of November 14th-15th and November 21st-22nd. We encourage you to join with the rest of the parish community to feed the hungry as we wait with joyful anticipation for the arrival of our Lord at Christmas. Donations can also be made at the Parish Office through November 22nd.
