Tenderloin Immersion – December 13
Holy Spirit Parish is partnering with San Francisco City Impact for an immersion opportunity on Saturday, December 13, to help the poor in the Tenderloin district. As part of a pre-Christmas celebration, parishioners will help with delivering food baskets to hotel residents and help set up a Christmas party and toy distribution for kids who live in the Tenderloin.
SF City Impact is a Christian based organization that has been ministering to the needs of the poor in this area of San Francisco since 1994. City Impact provides relief programs such as feeding, health care, and social services, while breaking unhealthy cycles through education, leadership training, and spiritual transformation. The Tenderloin is the poorest areas of San Francisco, yet is the most tightly condensed with 37,000 residents.
We will be one of many groups helping with this event. Holy Spirit is providing a bus for our volunteers that will leave the church parking lot at 7:30 a.m. on December 13 and will return to San Jose at approximately 4:00 p.m. The number of participants is limited to 50 — 25 volunteers to deliver food and meals to the residents of the Tenderloin and 25 volunteers to help with the children’s Christmas party. While this opportunity is open to families, and there is no age limit, parents should consider the maturity level of their children when signing up. All those under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Sign-ups for this trip will open online on Monday, November 10, at 9 a.m. Spots are expected to fill quickly, so sign up early! There will be a $45 fee for each participant, due November 17. Pay by credit card/Paypal below or send a check to the Parish Office, payable to Holy Spirit Church with “Tenderloin Trip” on the memo line.
