Scripture Study: Fall Series
Are you looking for a way to develop your spiritual muscle? Holy Spirit Scripture Study can help you accomplish this. Join us for fellowship, food, and fun as we explore the bible.
We use the Little Rock Scripture Study Series, a Catholic study approved by our Bishop. Participants take a little time each day to read from the Bible, read the accompanying commentary, and answer three questions. This can be completed in as little as twenty minutes! Then the group meets once a week to watch a 20 minute wrap-up video. Participants have commented that they gain knowledge and understanding during the weekly discussions with other faith-filled people.
The Wednesday morning study will begin exploring the Book of Isaiah. Did you know that the Book of Isaiah was actually composed at three different times (before the Babylonian exile, while the Israelites were in exile, and finally when they returned to Jerusalem)? Studying this book will challenge us to greater holiness and compassion. We meet beginning September 17 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall Library. This is a 13-week study.
The Thursday morning study will examine the Book of Wisdom. This book of the Old Testament was written about 100 years before the coming of Christ. The author of this book urges people to seek wisdom to discover God. This is a 6-week study and meets beginning October 2 from 8:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall Library. Beginning November 13, we will be starting a 4-week study of The Infancy Narratives of Jesus.
Parishioners who usually attend Wednesday evening scripture study are encouraged to sign up for the Catholicism series which will meet on Thursday evenings beginning September 18. Regular Wednesday evening study will begin in 2015.
The cost per scripture study (Wednesday morning or Thursday morning) is $15 for the commentary and questions. No previous scripture study experience is needed. All are welcome no matter where you are in your faith journey. For more information, contact Mary Kane at 408-997-6986 or Maryk5@pacbell.net.
