Sacred Heart Reverse Collection Kicks Off February 14-15
We kick off our annual reverse collection for Sacred Heart the weekend of February 14-15. You will be asked to take a slip from the second collection basket instead of putting money in. The slips ask for donations of pop-top cans, disposable diapers, infant formula, and adult tube socks, which Sacred Heart distributes every day to their many customers. We will collect these items from February 21st through March 1st and take them to Sacred Heart Community Service.
There are thousands of homeless men, women and children in Santa Clara County, and Sacred Heart offers them non-cooking bags of food that contain pop-top cans and produce, as well as bag lunches. Many homeless walk constantly to keep moving and avoid loitering, and Sacred Heart provides clean, dry socks to make their days easier.
Sacred Heart also helps families with young children. Diapers and infant formula are expensive, and customers often cannot afford to purchase the diapers and formula that they need for their children.
This Reverse Collection can be a great Lenten family experience. During Lent, we examine ourselves and our hearts so that we can follow Christ more closely. We have been blessed by God with so much and it is our Christian responsibility to care for others. We ask that you prayerfully consider participating in the Reverse Collection.
Please remember these needs when you are shopping this week, and thank you for caring for those in our community.
