Sacred Heart Community Service Immersion Trip – September 17
It seems that every time I go to Mass, I hear about Sacred Heart Community Service. There are collections of school supplies, soup, diapers, etc. There are groups going down on Saturdays with their families to sort vegetables or pack food. Teenagers get service hours for their volunteers work. Just what is Sacred Heart? What do they do there? Could this be a place for me to serve God’s people?
Immersion Trips are designed to answer just these questions. Every three months, a group of people both new to Sacred Heart service and those who have served there on previous occasions, gather at Sacred Heart to learn about their mission, spend time helping in Job Link, volunteering in the Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet, or assisting in the Welcome Center. Some come to learn and see the work done at Sacred Heart, many decide to volunteer again when there is another Immersion Trip, and many decide they like the experience so much that they become permanent volunteers.
Join us for our next Immersion Trip on September 17. We will meet at Sacred Heart at 9 a.m. and volunteer until 12 noon. Sacred Heart Commmunity Service is located at the corner of Alma and First Street, diagonally across from Southern Lumber. If you have any questions, contact Sue Seibert at email@example.com.
