Sacred Heart Blanket Drive – A Heartwarming Donation
Yes, the temperatures are still warm, but it’s time to start thinking about those cooler days and frosty nights. Every Thanksgiving, Sacred Heart strives to give a blanket to each of their families. Donated blankets are one of the most popular items in their Clothes Closet. They are used to bring warmth to several children sharing the same bed, shelter for homeless men and women living outside in the rain and cold, or families trying to keep warm while living in a car.
Unfortunately, the number of families in need often exceeds the number of donated blankets. We’re starting early in hopes of meeting the needs of more of these families. This is where you can help! When you’re out shopping or running errands and you come across a sale on winter bedding, think about picking up a blanket or two to warm the hearts and toes of those in need. Remember, it doesn’t have to be a new blanket, any gently used blankets at home that aren’t being used will also be greatly appreciated by those in need of a warm night’s rest.
On the weekends of October 11/12 and the 18/19, please bring new or clean, gently used blankets to Mass. Holy Spirit will store the blankets until Sacred Heart comes to collect them for the holiday distribution. Imagine how much more peaceful your sleep will be just knowing that you’ve brought warmth to many of our brothers and sisters in need. If you have any questions, please contact Yvonne Gomez at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Linda Contarino at email@example.com.
Thank you for living your faith by sharing your generous spirit. Sweet dreams!
