Prayer Shawl Ministry
Pictured above: Guests in our Parish Shelter last month received blessed shawls from the Prayer Shawl Ministry and prayers from our community at the farewell prayer service on February 9th.
Compassion and the love of knitting and crocheting are stitched together into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace with warm and comforting prayer shawls.
The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing from one of our priests is offered before the shawl is sent on its way.
Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; comfort after a loss and bereavement; during times of stress; prayer or meditation; birthing and/or nursing a baby; joyous bridal shower or wedding gift; during an illness and recovery; tireless ministering to others.
Learn more about this ministry at the next meeting on Monday, March 21st, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
