November at Sacred Heart: Sharing Our Blessings
As always, November at Sacred Heart is a very busy place! Many volunteers are needed to make the plans reality. November 8 and 15 are the Registrations Days, when the customers of Sacred Heart register for food boxes that are distributed at Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also register for toys for their children. In order to register the many, many customers, volunteers are needed to check the customers’ paperwork before they wait in the long lines, to assist the trained volunteers at the computers, and to monitor traffic flow of the customers as they progress through the process. We need teens and adults for these days. Click here for Registration Days sign-ups.
Saturday at Sacred Heart will be on November 16. We will be assisting the staff preparing food bags and clothing for the next week. This program is open to families and school-aged children (accompanied by a parent), teens and adults. Click here for Saturday at Sacred Heart sign-ups.
On November 23, Packing Day, large boxes are packed with canned goods and other non-perishable items. These boxes get very heavy, so we need teens and adults to volunteer. We do have 5 youth spaces for children ages 10-13 accompanied by a parent. Click here for Packing Day sign-ups.
There are three Distribution Days—November 25, 26, 27—when the food boxes are given to the customers. The volunteers will be monitoring the flow of customers, loading the food boxes on the “assembly line”, and some will be aiding the customers by loading the boxes into the cars. The activity is limited to children 8 and up (accompanied by at least one parent), teens and adults. Click here for Distribution Day sign-ups. **UPDATE: MORE SPACES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO NOVEMBER 27**
