Children's Programs
The Church recognizes the importance of the family in forming children of faith. Vatican II documents refer to the “domestic church” as a way to describe the family unit. Parents are the first teachers of the faith and the home is where children first experience love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Children’s faith is nurtured by parents, by their extended family as well as by the parish community.
Parent’s own faith formation and spirituality directly affect the faith formation and spirituality of their children. For many parents, the idea of passing on the faith to the children and helping them grow spiritually is a daunting task.
As partners in teaching the faith, the parish offers faith formation and knowledge of the faith through Holy Spirit School and the Parish Catechetical Program. Children learn about sacraments, Scripture, morality and much more.
Parents are the key in helping children put their faith into practice by making prayer part of everyday life, by regularly attending Mass together as a family; and, by living as followers of Christ in reaching out to others.
Here at Holy Spirit Parish there are many excellent programs for children.
It takes a faith community to form life-long disciples!
