Advent Angels Expanded – Sign Up Today!
Holy Spirit Parish has been working with two social ministry partners this year—Sacred Heart and Sunday Friends.
Our parish is known for its generosity and serving the needs of others. The Social Ministries Committee feels that your continued support will enable us to support both of our worthy partners in our quest to reach out to those living in poverty.
At Christmas, both organizations will need assistance. Sacred Heart has a Toy Box where the parents “shop” for toys for their children at no cost to the family. Many of you have volunteered as “elves” in this fun program. Sunday Friends provides toys in their “store”. Adults have earned tickets to use for purchasing toys for their children. These tickets are earned by attending various Sunday Friends’ programs during the year and completing various tasks.
A coordinated effort of new toy donations is proposed to support both of these groups. You can choose how you would like to participate. One option is to sign up now at www.sundayfriends.org/hss-shopper for a time slot to shop at Hillsdale Target on Fridays, November 13th or 20th, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. The toys are safely kept there and picked up by Sunday Friends.
Another option is to choose an Angel from the Christmas tree at Mass after Thanksgiving. Families choose an angel and shop for that person. Those toys are returned to the Church and then delivered to Sacred Heart by some of the school students. The students also sort the donated toys into age groups in preparation for the Toy Box event.
Both of these programs benefit families by making it possible for them to select, wrap and present gifts to their children. Everyone celebrates the Season of Giving!
